According to data released by the Bureau of Labor Statistics, there has been a significant increase in the employment of working-age women, reaching a record high.
This is a remarkable achievement, as not only have women recovered from their losses during the pandemic, but they have also exceeded previous employment numbers every month.
In May, the percentage of women aged 25-54 who were employed reached 75.7%, the highest it has ever been. Julia Pollak, the chief economist at ZipRecruiter, attributes this increase in employment to the growth of the childcare sector. With more accessible and reliable childcare options, women are able to return to work without worrying about their children.
Pollak explains that in the past, many parents were turned away from childcare centers due to understaffing. However, as the sector continues to grow, this issue is slowly being resolved.
This all suggests that the job market is gradually recovering from the effects of the pandemic. With women being able to work more, we are eagerly seeing shifts in the housing market too – they are in a better position to fulfill their dreams of homeownership.
